I'd like to know too. I've seen this question posted here before, and it's always followed with eerie silence. Is this one of those cases of “If you can’t stand the answer, don’t ask the question?”

Cairngorm & I were geocaching a section of the Backbone Trail (for Spinal Tap) Friday – the N-S part just west of Sycamore Canyon. We bumped into a crew of three uniformed “Mountain Bike Volunteers” (or something like that). They stopped, chatted, asked us where we were headed. I asked if they had heard of geocaching. The head guy got serious and said “We better not talk about that.” And so we didn’t. But it’s the first time I’ve ever mentioned geocaching and received a negative reply – from some official-looking volunteer group!

All at once, I’m suspecting something is going on. How does one find out?
