Cache In Trash Out Event - Santa Clara River

by Carolyn Green

Bentbum spotted this graffiti-haven in horrific need of CITO so a bunch of us "left our campsite a lot cleaner than we found it" on a beautiful and fun day, under the north half of the Santa Clara River bridge under Harbor Blvd in Oxnard.

Thanks to Bentbum, Trurokr, Narls, Baby Sparkle, Willithin, Aerospace, ShirConn, GarageDude, and TweetyBird - we took out more than 30 bags of trash, including approx 10 bags of spray cans - perhaps 150 total cans, plus 1 and 5 gallon paint cans. For me, it was self-serving - I love to swim in the Pacific and know how this much toxic material (paint and propellant) can really pollute the ocean. Thanks Jim for the scouting work and bringing all the equipment. We had a blast! Now we need to do the south end....

If you want to redeem yourself, save Sat Jan 22 for CITO/Eco-Cleanup #3 Newbury Park, organized by Trurokr. Conejo Rec and Parks is very happy that we're taking this on and will be helping us that day. Sign up (GCM6QW) to attend. Let's hope for good weather too. See you then.
